The title of the exhibition is derived from the scientific name of the corkscrew rush, which is distributed as an ornamental plant. Its characteristic spiraling stems resemble the lines that Yamaguchi draws and are symbolic of her drawings in that they transform daily life into something more desirable.

For this exhibition, art critic Mare Isakari has been invited as a guest curator to reconsider the “meaning” of the works from the perspective of “Well-Being” rather than “art historical context”. Yamaguchi’s drawings, which celebrate everyday life, suggest a positive relationship between the works and their purchasers that continues after the exhibition’s duration in a commercial gallery.

I draw lines every day.
I observe the lines coming out from myself through various media.
Once in a while I create works leaving traces as if traveling together with clothes compactly packed. I also create works that change in the flow of time using air.
I want to recognize the shape of myself that suddenly appears by continuing to keep things that come out from myself without being captured in the space.
I will keep communication with others through the activity of drawing lines, and to discover and explore the drawings that occur around me in my daily life.
