ART TAIPEI 2021

22 - 25 Oct 2021
@Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1

At the Gallery Shukado booth we introduce comprehensive fine Japanese arts, not only contemporary but also modern arts including Edo period.

First of all, we show the works from 6 young talented artists.

Ikenaga Yasunari is one of the representative artist of Japanese Art scene. Painted on his own dyed linen canvas, his "bijinga (Portraits/ prints of beautiful women)" provide a sophisticated texture and taste.

Chen Pei Yi, we call her “The best cats’ painter in the East”. In Japan she is getting more and more popular in recent years as same as in Taiwan, including the publication of art book. The characteristic of her works is letting go of the definition or stereotype that cats are just cute. She lives with cats together and paints as they are. We can see her love to cats through her paintings.

Aono Amanatsu is one of autodidact artists, born and raised in Hokkaido and learned the technique of traditional Japanese painting by herself. She depicts her unique world of fantasies in free and delicate style. she has a free command on exploiting traditional technique in her originality. Her paintings give us a kind of pleasant impression. Women like fairies are flying over in a free space without discrimination of sex.

Since 2017, daikichi has been working and representing his figurines in Beijing, in China. He is quite different from what you imagine about an artist. At first, his stage of publicizing his works of art lies in the world of figurines. However, his figurines are far from those of stereotypical beauty. The fresh and bewitching beauty abounds in rich resonance with the realization of every parts, such as fingertips, legs, eyes, lips, teeth and even gums of his figurines, emanating overwhelming charm on us.

Kotao Tomozawa was born between mother, MimiyoTomozawa who enlivened the maniac manga magazine, “Garo” by her popular manga works and father of Frenchorigin. Her way of thinking is unique pertaining to none of any cultural origin. Raised up by seeing many b-class horror movies, her imagination and techniques are transcending ordinary Japanese artists and give us a glimpse of future art with a sense of speed and subtlety and stimulate our pleasure to “see”.

Generally, art works attempt to depict “something” within a frame which is relevant to the “reality” or “conception” in the outer world of a frame. In Yoshida’s case, her interest lies in Japanese old customs mirroring our ancestors’ attitudes towards the problems; how to cope with life and death. Her arts are produced out of journalistic coverage. On one hand, her expression is light and nimble with kitsch appearance. On the other, they look bizarre with a feeling of some sort of dark sexual ferociousness.

In addition as representative contemporary artists we will exhibit the excellent works of Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitomo Nara, Takashi Murakami. We exhibit also Tsuguharu Foujita and Kinichiro Ishikawa, very popular Japanese modern artist, as well as Ukiyo-e prints of Hiroshige, Utamaro and Hokusai.

CHEN Pei Yi
Chen Pei Yi completed a master degree of Fine Arts, Donghai University and B.S degree at Department of Visual Arts Education, National Pingtung University. Especially her recent works of cats and carpets with amazing minute brushwork become very popular in Taiwan.
YOSHIDA Mikiho

Aono Amanatsu
daikichi
Since 2017, daikichi has been working and presenting his works of dolls in Fujian Province, China. He is quite peculiar from what you imagine about an artist in general. It seems that his gem-like figurines of pretty girls led him to be a real artist.
